COVID-19 INFORMATION
Pickle Jam will follow all federal, state, county, and city mandates and guidelines for holding athletic events. View Idaho guidelines.
We have been closely monitoring the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic both locally in Boise, Idaho and around the nation. Different levels of government and the USAPA have established various guidelines, restrictions, and mandates, but everything continues to be in a state of flux. The current situation in Ada County (where Eagle and Boise, ID are located) is that we cannot hold gatherings greater than 50 people. We are facing a current spike in cases in Idaho, and especially in Ada County.
Even though Pickle Jam is over six weeks away, and we are all hopeful the situation will be better by then, we have regretfully decided to cancel Pickle Jam 2020.
Our Reasons:
· Current spike in local Covid-19 Cases
· Current Stage 3 restrictions not allowing gatherings over 50
· Participants flying and traveling from all over the country and needing to make travel plans
· Pickle Jam being held in our beautiful, but indoor, facility. With 250 participants, it will be hard to ensure proper social distancing measures.
· Finally, and most importantly, the safety of all our wonderful participants and staff.
We appreciate all the support we have gotten to make this event a success. As one of our players stated, “Pickle Jam works very hard to provide the best experience for all at a very reasonable price. It is truly a value and amazing that you can offer so much play and ambiance and fun experiences.” We certainly hope to be back very soon providing our unique pickleball jamboree.
We are currently at 231 players registered for Pickle Jam 2020 which is scheduled to be held September 11-13, 2020. Total registrations are capped at 250 which includes five staff members.
We are moving ahead with plans to hold the event, but given the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic we, obviously, are not 100% sure the event will be able to be held.
We will follow national, state, county, and city guidelines for events as we get closer to the event.
However, there are players who want to secure a spot for the event.
Those who do are being asked to fill out our Waiting List form to be placed on a list that we will maintain.
Those on the waiting list will not pay yet; they will just be on the list.
We plan to contact those on the waiting list beginning in July asking for payment, assuming the governmental guidelines state that social distancing has been removed.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
As most of you know, the coronavirus has been greatly affecting our nation.
We have been following the news and the advice from health organizations and our local governments to understand the risks of the virus to a large gathering.
Our considerations have included:
Individuals most at risk – nearly 40% of our players are over 60 years old, a high-risk category
Players traveling from out-of-state
Staff and volunteers
The additional risk of large gatherings in an indoor facility
Our ability to reschedule to another date
Early cancellation to save on expenses
After careful consideration, we have determined that Pickle Jam will be rescheduled to September 11th-13th. All registered players will have their spots saved and moved to the new dates.
Withdrawals and Refunds
You may withdraw and request a refund for your registration fees minus $10 to help with the occurred costs. Please note it may take up to two weeks to process refund requests. Players will have until August 25th to withdraw. Please email picklejamboree@gmail.com with your name and “Withdrawal” in the subject line. Refunds will be processed through PayPal, so please include your PayPal email address with the email.
Holding your spot
Players that are paid and registered will have their spot held. We will reopen registration for the new dates once we drop below 250 players.
Our entire team has been working on this issue and is disappointed we won’t be seeing you in April. We will be working hard to make sure the event in September will be even better and we look forward to seeing you there.
Joining us as a sponsor this year is KitchenFire Sports, and we’re thrilled to have them!
From the KitchenFire Sports Website:
The beginning of this adventure was in the spring of 2015 when a group of friends I work with decided we should go play Pickleball. Equipped with our wooden paddles we headed out to get some exercise. Little did I know at that time I would become a Pickleball addict!
As we learned to play we decided we should create our own ladder and track who was winning the most games. So each of us created a team name; I chose KitchenFire. Obviously because I was going to set the kitchen on fire with the amazing shots I would use to crush my opponents. Reality was a bit less impressive than the name would imply.
Now that I’m totally addicted to Pickleball I decided to apply the skills I use for my day job, graphic design, to create some fun shirt designs. This was the best of both worlds. Loving Pickleball and design it just made sense. So in my spare time I created a few designs, convinced my wife that I could sell them so she’d let me spend the money to print them, and built this website.
My wife and I are hoping you love our shirts so we can travel to tournaments and sell KitchenFire gear because… more Pickleball time is always a good thing… Right?
Thank you for visiting our online store! We hope to meet many of you in-person out on the courts sometime in the future. So get out there and play in style with your KitchenFire gear!
